Intro to NCEA

What is NCEA?

NCEA (National Certificate of Educational Achievement) is New Zealand's key secondary school qualification. It allows students to show their knowledge through various subjects, preparing them for future studies or careers in a flexible way. Students are rewarded with credits (a type of points system) as a way of showing they can apply certain skills. This goes towards an overall grade and completion of NCEA level 1, 2 and 3 qualifications.

What subjects are on offer?

English, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Drama, and Dance.

How can we support year 10 students with NCEA?

Our 'Year 10 Introduction to NCEA' lessons are designed to practise using the skills required to achieve NCEA level one. We look at the assignments your school may offer, run through NCEA terminology (there's loads of new words to get use to), trial similar activities found in NCEA assessments, and prepare you for NCEA examinations.

Do we support students with anxiety?

NCEA is the next step for year 10 students, which can cause anxiety. Our NCEA expert teachers and tutors are warm and approachable people. They know how to ease anxiety and build confidence with NCEA. It is important to us that we go at the learner's pace and make sure they feel safe to ask all the questions they need to ask to make sure they feel ready for this next high school learning endeavour.
