READING Tovah's Tutoring Guide

Year 1 and 2

In the first two years of school, your child should be able to know the sounds of letters and blends as well as recognise punctuation and a large bank of sight words. E.g. ch, bl, pr. Sight words are words like an, for and make.​​​

WRITING Tovah's Tutoring Guide

Year 1 and 2

In the first two years of school, your child should be able to write simple sentences with different beginnings, variety of structures and added details. E.g. using compounds like 'but' and 'so' and complexities like 'because' and 'although'.

SPEAKING Tovah's Tutoring Guide

Year 1 and 2

In the first two years of school, your child should be able to ask questions, reflect on their learning, make sense of what they are reading aloud, and understand basic vocal delivery. E.g. Speaking clearly and using different tones.

MATHS Tovah's Tutoring Guide

Year 1 and 2

In the first two years of school, your child should be able to identify and sequence numbers up to 120 (forwards and backwards), as well as grouping them in hundreds, tens, and ones. They should be able to make groupings using simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. E.g. 2 x 3 = 6, If I had 4 apples and I gave Michael one of my apples, I would have 3 apples left.
